What you'll need

Spåna runs a small agent next to your hub. It needs an always-on device on your home network to keep watching while you're away. Most people already have one:

  • A home server or mini PC
  • A Raspberry Pi (3, 4 or 5)
  • Any host that can run Docker

…and a DIRIGERA hub with your sensors already set up

Spåna watches the sensors that are already paired to your IKEA DIRIGERA hub. Add and name them in the IKEA Home smart app first – Spåna doesn't replace that app, it watches what's already there.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data private?
Your hub credentials never leave your network – the agent talks to DIRIGERA locally and only forwards sensor events over a single outbound connection. There are no inbound ports to open on your router.
Is Spåna affiliated with IKEA?
No. Spåna is an independent product that works with the IKEA DIRIGERA hub. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, IKEA.
Which sensors work?
Any sensors paired to your DIRIGERA hub in the IKEA Home smart app – motion, door/window and temperature sensors all become alerts you can act on.
What do I need to run it?
An always-on device on your home network – a home server, mini PC or a Raspberry Pi (3, 4 or 5) – plus a DIRIGERA hub. The agent ships as a small Docker image.
What happens if my device goes offline?
The agent reconnects automatically when it comes back online and resumes streaming events. While it is offline it cannot send alerts, so we recommend a host that stays on.
How much does it cost?
Spåna is free during the beta – no credit card required. Beta users will get plenty of notice before any pricing is introduced.
